Canada far behind United States on climate change policy, say environmentalists

While the U.S. government has decided to tackle its biggest source of greenhouse gas emissions as evidenced by the recently-announced Clean Power Plan, the Canadian federal government has yet to explicitly tackle its own.

Environment Canada estimates that the oil and gas sector makes up about a quarter of Canada’s greenhouse gas emissions and that Canada won’t meet its international emission-reduction targets.
