Re: "First-past-the-post system perverts will of majority, says letter-writer," (The Hill Times, letter to the editor, May 30, p. 8) and "Per-vote subsidy should be made more democratic, not cut," (The Hill Times, May 30, p. 24). Wayne Smith gets it right while Duff Conacher gets it wrong when talking about the per-vote subsidy. Mr. Smith argues correctly that the per-vote subsidy should be "strengthened" since it is the most democratic method of subsidizing parties that we have.
