Environment Canada must be one of most creative, innovative in government

Hope Environment Minister Peter Kent's early missteps are simply that and not a sign that real environmental leadership is still some time away.

TORONTO—Canadians expect their minister of the Environment to fight for the environment. This is the person whose duty it is to persuade Cabinet colleagues and the Prime Minister to support policies that make Canada a responsible environmental citizen in the world. Otherwise, why bother to have an environment minister?

TORONTO—Canadians expect their minister of the Environment to fight for the environment. This is the person whose duty it is to persuade Cabinet colleagues and the Prime Minister to support policies that make Canada a responsible environmental citizen in the world. Otherwise, why bother to have an environment minister?
